Qurban For Life is Back!

Dear Brother/Sister

Assalaamu alaikum – Peace be upon you

What will YOU sacrifice, this Eid?
Aaishah (RA) narrates the Messenger of Allah (Peace be upon him) said:
"There is nothing dearer to Allah during the days of Qurbani than the sacrificing of animals. The sacrificed animal shall come on the Day of Judgement with its horns, hair, and hooves (to be weighed). The sacrifice is accepted by Allah before the blood reaches the ground. Therefore sacrifice with an open and happy heart."
[Tirmidhi & Ibn Maajah]

In the first ten days of Dzul-Hijjah, as we increase our prayer and dhikr, and we make arrangements to carry out Qurbani, let us remember our needy brothers and sisters. Is it not our duty to ensure that they are able to celebrate Eid with the rest of the Ummah?

This Eid-ul-Adha, please help us provide respite from months of hunger, to some of the world’s poorest people.

Muslim Aid is carrying out Qurban For Life programs in 47 countries worldwide including Malaysia. As little as RM380 can buy Qurban in a country where the need is greatest. For a detailed list of countries where we perform Qurbani on your behalf, please click http://www.facebook.com/pages/QURBAN-FOR-LIFE/110895842274977;

or call us on 603-22881996 to buy your Qurbani.

Muslim Aid FC vs Kachin Refugees Community (KRC)

Last four years was the last time I played football and this time is for Muslim Aid FC. We were involved with the UNHCR League. The format is almost the same as World Cup, but only 16 teams will be playing for the UNHCR Cup. All the teams are from the refugees community and only the Muslim Aid FC consist of local players. The first game against the Kachin Refugees Community (KRC) went well when we scored the first goal on a counter attack. But since we didn't had enough stamina, we went down 1-3 to KRC. The next game will be after raya on the 19th Sept at the same place, Taman Pudu Ulu. All Muslim Aid FC supporters are invited!

oh man, they scored again!

it was a good game....

Update on My Kitchen Garden

Last Monday I went to ASDAF to update on the kitchen garden. The hot chilies are ready to pluck. The kids only took the red one, as others are still young to be plucked. InsyaAllah by next week on the 16th Jan 2009, all the baby plants will be transfered on the ground. They would be spinach, pumpkin, cucumber and brinjal! Wait till next week!

EMERGENCY APPEAL FOR GAZA

Still enduring the effects of months of an Israeli blockade, isolation and crippling shortages of food, medicines and fuel supplies, the people of Gaza now face another onslaught- full scale military operations. Already 425 hundred Palestinians have been killed 2,300 injured in a series of air raids over the past 7 days (al_Jazeerah) and ground forces stand poised at the borders. The casualty figures and destruction are set to increase significantly over the coming days.
Muslim Aid has been working tirelessly over recent months assisting the Palestinians during the blockade by distributing vital supplies which includes food parcels, nutritional meals for school children, school kits, blankets and gas lights. However, there is an URGENT need for medicines, first aid kits and medical supplies. Muslim Aid Asia with Muslim Aid Australia in partnership with local Gaza agencies which includes UNRWA are continuously assessing the needs and working to secure much needed supplies of food and medicines.
We urgently need your help!

Muslim Aid Asia: Aid for Bukit Antarabangsa Landslide Victims

.
Yesterday Amir, Hadi (Muslim Aid Asia's volunteer) and me went to send some help for the landslide victim at Sekolah Kebangsaan Hulu Klang. Muslim Aid Asia doesn't have a disaster team yet in Malaysia, so we came to help in term of logistics and to help calm victims that had been traumatised. Muslim Aid Asia had sent mineral waters and bread for people at the school. More volunteers ada needed. And if any are interested, may call Amir at 017-2277 5252.

ASDAF and Foreign Students

It was already 11pm, and we were preparing for a trip to the Kampung Orang Asli in Raub Pahang. Mubarak (from India) and Jaafar (from Nigeria) had a very warm welcome by the children of ASDAF. The children took the opportunity to talk with Jaafar and Mubarak in English. Even though they had difficulties to express everything in English, they really tried hard to speak English. Several times they came to me to translate words from Bahasa to English. It was fun, the the kids even thought Jaafar and Mubarak to speak Bahasa:)

Next time whenever there is an event at ASDAF, surely I'll invite Jaafar and Mubarak to join as well...
